About Me

This blog is my only creative outlet (outside of work) since I can’t draw a straight line, but here’s my artwork from Paint Nite! It’s a painting of the ideal reading location.

Hi there! My name is Jorelene, and I created Page Chronicles so that I could discuss great books, share my ideas, and interact with other book lovers. I’m 20 years old and recently graduated university with a double major in computer science and business. In mid-June, I’ll be starting a full-time job in the tech industry.

I grew up being an avid reader. Back in elementary school, my addictions were The Magic Tree House, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Holes, and a myriad of other books. I remember being jealous of the kids who had detention or “time-out” because they received absolutely no interruption if they were to read a book. However I was always too afraid to get into trouble, so I didn’t ever test how that experience was (maybe I should have, thinking back on it. I definitely took all of my schooling before high school way too seriously). After elementary school, I would spend all of my free time in middle school and high school at either the school library or my city’s public library. I was that person who would request more books at both libraries because I would exhaust all the book options that I found interesting.

My current favorite books, in no particular order, include:

I read a variety of book genres. That includes adult/new adult/young adult fiction, fantasy, dystopia, contemporary, science fiction, historical fiction, and even some inspiring non-fiction (although more sparingly). The only genres that I tend to avoid are horror and religion. Please let me know if you have any book recommendations! I love being introduced to fantastic, new books.

You can check out my Goodreads page for books that I’ve already read! I’ve been active on Goodreads since 2012, and I decided in 2016 that I wanted to dedicate time to write reviews and blog posts about me and my reading life. I hope you enjoy my blog posts, and please feel free to join in on my thoughts in the comments!

Happy reading!

More power to you. As an avid reader, you will be a great writer. You could step outside your comfort zone and attend graduate school in Germany, even if you do not know the language. German universities are free and many of them offer classes completely in English. The only charges I had during my three years there were for room and meals which at the time was not that much. Graduate school was a given since I already had two of my five degrees in German when I returned to college in the US. Follow your dreams. Good luck in the future whatever your profession or studies. Happy reading and writing! 🙂

[…] I admired (and still do), and the first book blogger that actually followed me is Jorelene over at PageChronicles, and I just want to thank you so much for that Jorelene! You pretty much showed me how to blog. […]
